🚀 SaaS IPOs & S-1 Filings
- Bending Spoons priced its IPO and debuted on Nasdaq (Milan-based consumer-software holding company behind Evernote, WeTransfer, Brightcove, StreamYard, Vimeo, and AOL; SaaS; Europe/U.S.) – priced its IPO at $29.00 per share on June 30 and began trading under ticker "BSP" on July 1; the company and selling shareholders raised roughly $1.68B, and shares closed their first session up about 40% at $40.50, implying a market capitalization near $25.7B and testing public-market appetite for acquire-and-optimize software portfolios.
🧠 Key Takeaways
- Small, high-paid, high-intensity teams are becoming the AI-era edge – Jason Lemkin argues that AI won't shorten the workweek for winners; the companies pulling ahead pair lean, well-compensated teams with intense execution, and total software spend is still growing ~15% this year, so AI-first challengers are taking deals from slower incumbents.
- You can't count on 2026 growth without tapping AI budgets – SaaStr makes the case that new AI line-items, not flat existing software budgets, are where incremental spend is flowing; founders should reposition their product to capture that budget rather than competing for shrinking legacy allocations.
- Protect logo retention and GRR as CS gets restructured around AI – As AI absorbs a growing share of support tickets, Lemkin urges founders to keep customer success focused on gross retention and resist the trend of CS reporting into sales, so renewals and net revenue retention don't quietly erode.
